October 18, 2012: 37 weeks, 1 day
Two new developments this week to announce:
1. My friend Amanda and I cut off all our hair to donate to Locks of Love. (Her hair was longer than mine, so my haircut ended up being extra short... but hair grows back, right?) Thank you, prenatal vitamins! - my hair has never grown so fast or so full!
2. We reached the 37 week mark, which means SAMMY IS FULL TERM! :) He should be here any day/week now! We will find out on Wednesday his estimated birth weight.

October 12, 2012: 36 weeks, 2 days
It's official - we have reached the NINE MONTHS milestone :) Now that the big day is getting closer and closer, the realities of parenthood are starting to hit home. I am relishing these lazy Fall days with the dogs - sleeping in, going for long walks, trips to the dog beach and the park, snuggling on the couch while watching all my favorite reruns... pretty soon, Gus and Pocket are going to have to take the back seat to being my "babies", so I'm spoiling them as much as possible while I still can.
We've been receiving lots of gifts lately both in person and in the mail, and everyone's generosity is greatly appreciated :) We have most of what we'll need for the first few weeks. Now all we need is for Sammy to finally get here!
During the 8th month, I was very anxious for Sammy to be born, and hoped that he would arrive as soon as we hit 37 weeks. Now that 37 weeks is only a matter of days away, I'm in much less of a hurry to wish away these last precious weeks left, as I am starting to realize that our lives will be changed forever, and this is the last time it'll just be Scott and I in the house. It's been nice just being a couple - just the two of us - too bad we only had a little over a year to enjoy it!
But anyway, November is quickly approaching, and we couldn't be happier as we make the final preparations to welcome little Sammy into our lives. Less than 30 days to go!
Oh yeah, and GO CARDINALS!

September 24, 2012: 33 weeks, 5 days
Sammy is growing by leaps and bounds! I remember writing a post for the 24 weeks milestone, and how excited Scott and I were to have reached the first "safety" point in the pregnancy - meaning Sammy was officially developed enough to survive outside the womb. It's hard to believe that that was almost 10 weeks ago, and now he is not only fully developed, but is also big enough to make his movements visible to the outside world. I spend many evenings just staring at my belly as it morphs into different shapes and positions as Sammy flips from side to side.
But as fast as those 10 weeks flew by, now time is starting to go by slowly again as my anticipation for Sammy's arrival builds and builds. Between the increase in my excitement and the increase in my waist line, both are really starting to weigh me down. Sammy's arrival can't come soon enough! But until then, I will do my best to appreciate the time I have now, just me, Scott, and our three canine sons who think they are human.

22 days until Sammy is FULL TERM!
But who knows when Sammy will decide he's full term and ready to go ;)

August 30, 2012: 30 weeks 2 days
Mom came to visit! :)
"Grandma" came bearing gifts from home for Sammy, (and delicious cookies for mommy!)
We did oodles of baby shopping, and are getting closer to being prepared for Sammy's arrival. We decorated his crib and changing area with jungle themed wall decals. Grandma bought us a trendy new diaper bag (which is already packed and ready for the hospital!), as well as many other of the essentials, from burp cloths to bottles to sheets for the crib. She also got us an adorable new playard that matches the new elephant/jungle theme we've seemed to fallen in love with! (Pictures of the decals and playard to come!)
On Monday, we were lucky enough to have a surprise ultrasound at our doctors appointment. It was amazing to see how much he has grown in 10 weeks. He doesn't even fit on the screen at one time anymore. We could only see him in pieces (his head, then his body, then his feet, then his hands...) Everything seems to be going well and progressing on track. I even somehow managed to gain a few extra pounds than needed, but I'm okay with that :)
It's crazy to think that the next time 'Grandma' will be here, Sammy will be here too! Hopefully he gives a 2-day warning and arrives on his due date :)

July 18, 2012: 24 weeks!!
It's finally arrived! 24 weeks! I've been waiting for this day for what seems like forever.
Here's why!
- The child is now gaining around 3 ounces a week
- Baby weighs about 1.3 pounds and is 12 inches long
- If born at this stage, the baby is officially considered viable, so he may well be able to survive!
So yay for Sammy! You made it, little guy! You are no longer an ambiguous little embryo, but a living, moving, almost breathing baby! We are all anxious to meet you, but stay in my belly a little longer because you still have some cooking to do :)

Watch Sammy kick!!!
Remember, he only weighs about a little over a pound, so they're very subtle kicks. (You can tell he's kicking when the camera bounces, or if you notice my belly move. The slight camera bounces is from my heart beat.)

Binky
Meet Binky, the blue nosed panda from the My Blue Nose Friends series. http://carteblanchegreetings.com/mybluenosefriends/wardrobe/friend/binky
After purchasing Binky at our local Barnes n Noble, I have fallen in love with the Blue Nose Friends stuffed animals. They are so soft and cuddly, not to mention absolutely adorable! Hopefully Sammy will love his little blue nose friend as much as his mother does! Hehe!

Just wanted to share my new toy discovery with the family. I chose Binky for obvious reasons (I LOVE PANDAS!) but I know Scott liked some of the other animals a bit better. They're all so darn cute though that it's hard to choose! Here's a link to all the Blue Nose Friends if you want to see the others! http://carteblanchegreetings.com/mybluenosefriends/products/show/plush
Lastly, if you hear Sammy calling out for his "Binky", don't assume he means his pacifier!

July 8, 2012: 22 weeks 5 days
When my dearest friend from Pittsburgh relocated to Phoenix, we were so excited to be close to each other once again... and then we realized how far apart we still truly were. Consequently, we've only been able to see each other one time since the move. BUT, today makes visit #2! Us two mamas spent some much needed girl time at the Santa Monica Pier. Maria is a real trooper trekking through the sand at almost 9 months pregnant!

July 6, 2012: 22 weeks 3 days
Went to the OB today for a check-up. Baby's heartbeat sounded good, and belly measurement was right on the money - 22 weeks, 22 inches! Every time I go to the doctors and get a good report, I feel so incredibly blessed to have such a healthy little baby growing inside of me. I don't know what Scott and I did to deserve such a gift, but we are certainly grateful!

July 4, 2012: 22 Weeks!
Went to the movies today. Sammy kicked the whole time, and even got the hiccups!

July 3, 2012: 21 weeks 7 days
What happened before I started blogging?...
February 15 - Sammy's estimated date of conception
February 26 - Positive home pregnancy test
March 19 - Sammy's first ultrasound at 6 1/2 weeks... happy 35th birthday, Scott!
April 6 - Sammy's second ultrasound; doctor confirmed the baby is healthy. It's official. This is for real this time!
July 2, 2012: 21 weeks 6 days
The baby gear accumulation has begun!
He may not have a crib, car seat, or high chair yet, but of course,
Sammy already has a musical instrument box!
Gus: "So which of these things is mine??" :-D
